I got Doris a special present for her anniversary birthday: We were going to Venice from September 22nd to 24th, 2006. This is just a brief summary, mainly for providing links to the pictures I took at this beautiful city.
We arrived at a Friday, and it was the best day to take the boat along the Grand Canal, as it wasn’t that crowded and I managed to take some nice pictures of the facades. We visited St. Marks Square and had some expensive coffee and ice cream at Café Florian. After that we went into the Palazzo Ducale and went over the Bridge of Sighs. We had dinner at a restaurant right next to the Canale Grande.
The next day we were walking through the town and took the boat to the island San Giorgio Maggiore. We visited the Rialto Bridge and even found the Cantina do Mori, a pub frequently visited by the hero of a novel, Commissario Brunetti.
On our third and last day we were again taking some walks and visited the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. In the evening we took our flight back to Vienna.
